Intelligent Surround offers a revolutionary breakthrough in multidimensional surround processing with an unparalleled level of spatial realism and multidimensional envelopment. Intelligent Surround can decode any stereo signal into multidimensional, multi-channel surround sound. The Intelligent Surround process provides 6.1 channel surround decoding of all non-encoded stereo source material, as well as enhanced 6.1 decoding of all matrix encoded music or cinema productions. The HTD 6.1 Stereo Surround Decoder provides a sub woofer output channel with 24db/octave response at 120Hz. Intelligent Surround provides true stereo surround channels for maximum lateral stereo impact and separation. With the Intelligent Surround system there is no compromise in the stereo separation of the left and right front or the left and right surround channels. Intelligent Surround uses ISP Technologies patent pending “Dynamic Spectral Matrix” technology. The DSM technology provides a surround matrix that constantly monitors the L+R, or center channel signal amplitude and bandwidth, and dynamically subtracts only the dominant center channel portion of the spectrum from the left and right channels. Most of the stereo cues in music and cinema productions are in the higher frequency portion of the spectrum. By using the DSM process, Intelligent Surround avoids using broadband subtraction and subtracts only the spectrum of the center channel information from the left and right channels. This means that the Intelligent Surround system retains true stereo performance at frequencies above the bandwidth of the center channel signal. Using this dynamic spectral subtraction technology, the Intelligent Surround processor provides a major improvement in stereo lateral separation and spatial reality while offering a level of multidimensional envelopment that has never been heard before. The Intelligent Surround processor reproduces non-encoded stereo source material with a much more sonically correct and balanced level of difference information which has been one of the common side effects found in previous stereo to surround decoding systems.
