High Definition Monitor™ New Box From ISP Technologies
ISP Technologies announces two new arrivals in the growing High Definition Monitor™ family. The HDM™ 112 and 212 join the highly regarded 115 and 210. These are high output 3-way active speakers featuring High-Definition Midrange™, achieving better resolution, lack of compression, and farther throw than cone midranges. The versatility of the HDM’s is amazing as they can be used as wedges or they can be pole mounted, stacked, or optionally flown.
When used with subs, the HDM™ 210 and 212 make particularly capable FOH boxes. The HDM™ 115 features a very high-excursion woofer for impressive LF response from a wedge. All four speakers in the HDM™ family feature lightweight neo drivers, dual midrange compression drivers, and non-metallic high frequency drivers. A fan-cooled, three channel D-CAT™ amplifier with analog processor is built in to the monitors, providing up to 900 watts of power (500 watts on the 112).
The 3-way design vastly reduces the problems inherent in two-way designs which cause transient smearing and lack of clarity. The dual midrange compression drivers have much higher sensitivity and virtually no cone breakup when compared to cone drivers. They also allow a lower crossover point to the woofers, reducing cone resonance, and a higher crossover point to the HF driver than in a 2-way design, reducing distortion and allowing an HF driver with a smaller, lighter diaphragm for extended response. Further, a tri-amplified system more efficiently uses amplifier headroom, so that the 900 watts available is equivalent to a 2-way system with 1500 watts.
