A fixture in the northern Chicago suburb of Palatine for 30 years, Durty Nellie’s has undergone a major renovation, including a full service restaurant, rooftop al fresco dining, bar/pub area, and the showcase for the club, a state-of-the-art 2 level concert nightclub for up to 1000 people for local and national touring acts featuring the ISP Technologies Discreet 5.1 Live Surround System with dts music playback. The left, center, right front of house system consists of 3 custom designed 4-element line array cabinets and 8 XMAX118 subwoofers. The rear surround channels are a pair of flown Tripower Reference speakers and stage monitors consist of 2 Triwedge monitors and 4 VMAX12XL cabinets providing over 20,000 watts of total system power.
Being one of the first night clubs to utilize a full surround system, Nellie’s is on the cutting edge of technology with a system that can be used for both live and pre-recorded music. The system can also be used for any live band performance by utilizing the patent pending Matrix Discrete Panning Interface. This will allow the live sound engineer to independently control any individual signal from the stage and pan it around the 360° sound field with totally discrete channel separation. Live Surround Systems can be configured as either a 4.1 or 5.1 surround system. The built in decoder will decode the normal stereo stage mix and up to 4 independent channels can be applied to the optional Matrix panner providing absolute discreet channel panning.
